North Vancouver Community Arts Council presents Miyuki Shinkai and Jeff Wilson.  District Foyer Gallery.
Jeff is a self-taught realist acrylic painter exploring a range of Canadian & Scottish urban & rural narratives.  Typical subjects include heavy machinery, signage, utility poles and alleyways, interspersed with rural themes, such as the coastlines, forests & mountains. Subjects are characteristically cropped, to give dynamic & asymmetric compositions.  Canvases are rendered in a harmonious but distinctive, commonly vivid palette.  This combination of composition and colour reflects a confluence of visual techniques pioneered by the Scottish Colourists & Group of Seven.
3D Miyuki Shinkai: Glass installation
Miyuki has been working in blown glass for over twenty years.  Her main interest is narrative expression in installation style which incorporates glass and other media such as wood, painting, paper, and found object.  Through her work she wishes to share her excitement of visual art and hopes to inspire the audience to seek curiosity and beauty in life.  Miyuki lives on the Sunshine Coast and owns and operates Mellonglass studio with her husband.

North Vancouver Community Arts Council presents Christine Breakell-Lee at the District Library Gallery
Vancouver based artist Christine Breakell-Lee received her degree in Fine Arts and Communication from SFU. Since her solo show Mixed Media in 2010, she has established a strong presence among private collectors and designers. Christine's paintings evoke a spectrum of emotion, often pulling from personal experience that she realizes through her process of abstraction, spontaneity and contrast. It is through this process of adding and layering paint beneath the resin that her work evolves. Christine is represented in Vancouver by Art Works and Buckland Southerst Gallery and in Toronto by Art Interiors. Her studio is located at 1000 Parker Street where she spends time painting each day. "I require distraction," declares Queen Elizabeth I, when she suddenly appears in a barn where Shakespeare and his acting company are lodged overnight. She's quite serious: a former lover of hers, the Earl of Essex, is jailed in the Tower of London for treason and will die by her order at dawn. As the hour of his execution draws closer, the Queen must reconcile her responsibilities as a leader with her feelings as a woman. Charismatic actor Ned Lowenscroft, renowned for his portrayals of Shakespeare's women, becomes the Queen's sparring partner in Findley's fierce examination of devotion, power and identity. The Studio Stage provides an intimate setting for this poignant study of a sovereign in love. Vanier Park, Vancouver; https://www.bardonthebeach.org/
