Central Park - Burnaby

by Nathan

Activity:

This big park is located on the border of Vancouver and Burnaby.  It has a lot of tall trees and trails to walk or bike.  There's a pitch and putt golf course that I want to try soon, but Dad says I'm still too young to play golf on this course.  The neatest thing is the pond in the park which has real live turtles in it, and gold fish, too.  My sister Jen likes to play at the children's playground that is sponsored by McDonalds.

Age group:

All ages

Expense rating:

Mostly free except pitch and putt golf, and the outdoor swimming pool.

:

The nice thing about Central Park is that it has a little bit of everything: trails, forests, ponds, swimming pool, pitch and putt golf, and a children's playground.

:

Dad is always checking the bottom of our shoes for geese poop.  You do have to watch where you step sometimes.

Apparently, Central park was named in honour of the wife of Vancouver's second mayor, David Oppenheimer.  Mrs. Oppenheimer was originally from New York.

Fun for the adult?:

Mom says this is a great park to take a jogging stroller because the trails are pretty flat.
