Ocean Park Shoreline Walk - Surrey
Notes from Dad
Activity:
I'm going to let you in on a little secret; there's more than one beach
in the White Rock area. The one most
people know and frequent is the strip with the fishing dock and big white
rock perched on the beach. The one many people don't know about is
Crescent Beach, which is where the Ocean
Park Shoreline Walk is. At low tide this is a great place to look
for sand dollars, crabs and starfish. Keep your eyes peeled for Harbour
Seals and Grey Whales; you never know when you might see some. The
Ocean Park Shoreline Walk trail goes for several kilometers, hugging the
railway line. Keep your eyes and ears open for trains; you don't
want your kids anywhere near the tracks. It seems like the trail
should go all the way to White Rock Beach, but it doesn't. There
are rock bluffs in between making it impossible to get by. If you
shy away from crowds of people, but still long for the sun and sand of
White Rock, the Crescent Beach area is a perfect
alternative. Here you can have your cake and eat it too.
