Canada Day - Maple Ridge: The annual Maple Ridge Multi-cultural Canada Day celebration is a tremendous event that attracts over 5000 participants. The day begins with a traditional flag raising ceremony, 11:00 am, at the cenotaph in Memorial Peace Park, Maple Ridge. Following the ceremony, the Canada Day family-oriented festival includes multi-cultural foods, arts and crafts vendors, entertainment, and children's activities. Chinatown Arts & Cultural Festival July 2003: Under the umbrella of the Chinatown Revitalization Committee, the Chinatown Arts & Cultural subcommittee's goal is to further enhance Vancouver Chinatown's role as the host of arts and cultural events in the City and promote greater diversity in art forms showcased. To achieve this goal performances, demonstrations, lion dances, films and other activities will be presented every Saturday during July from 1:00-3:00pm in newly renovated Dr. Sun Yat Sen Courtyard. The Courtyard is now paved instead of grassy lawn for better usability and embedded with Chinese zodiac symbols thanks to the City of Vancouver's Eastside improvement initiatives and Parks Board. On Satuday, July 19 the Garden will present a festive celebration of the Philippines which includes folk and regional dances, singing, crafts, and fashion show. Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind presents our 16th annual ?Go For Guide Dogs? Fundraising Walk on Sunday, July 13, 2003.  Registration is at 9:30am, and the walk starts at 10. Take your dog and join us in the four-kilometre walk through Central Park in Burnaby.   To find us, enter the parking lot from Boundary Road.  We?ll be east of the swimming pool and south of Swangard Stadium.  Following the walk, there?ll be lots of door prizes and a demonstration by the Burnaby RCMP Dog Section. All funds raised at the walk are directed towards providing professionally trained guide dogs to the visually impaired.
